MEET THE ARTIST

Greg Kasparian

Bassist and longtime core member of the Sam Morrison Band whose heavier musical roots became part of the low-end foundation beneath both Southern Rock Explosion and Turn The Page.

Greg’s history helps explain the band’s weight. The music may have moved from heavier origins toward Southern Rock, but the sense of mass never disappeared. His job is to keep that mass moving.

WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW THEM

The center you feel before you notice.

01

THE FOUNDATION

He gives the band mass.

Greg’s bass keeps multiple guitars, saxophone, keys and drums connected to the same physical center.

02

THE HISTORY

He is part of the core, not a late addition.

Sam Morrison identified Greg as part of the band’s core in a 2011 interview.

03

THE RANGE

The assignment changes; the center holds.

Southern Rock Explosion wants looseness and muscle. Turn The Page wants precision and propulsion. Greg supplies the floor to both.

THE STORY

Where the heavier past meets the Southern groove.

Sam Morrison has described the early musical meeting point vividly: some of the players came from heavier backgrounds, Sam came from country, and they met in Southern Rock. Greg is one of the clearest examples of that collision becoming identity. His bass does not need to announce the history. It carries it — firmness from one world, pocket from another, and enough restraint to let the songs stay open.
