THE STORY

The story

Cooper “Coop” Bayliss is a third-generation professional musician who began performing professionally at age 13. Over more than three decades he has sung and played guitar and keyboards across rock, blues and jazz, including a European tour with AWOL, arranging and producing work, and studio projects as both a lead and background vocalist. At Campus JAX he leads Laurel Canyon Dreamin’, bringing a working musician’s perspective to the songs and stories of the Laurel Canyon era.

CAREER & COLLABORATIONS

Performs with.

Coop’s work with Laurel Canyon Dreamin’ turns the Canyon’s history into a live conversation—part musical guide, part guitarist, part storyteller.

RECORDINGS & MEDIA

Then the guitars take over.

With Laurel Canyon Dreamin’, Coop’s history lesson isn’t a lecture. He connects the musical dots—revealing the colors, shades and relationships that made the Canyon what it was, then letting the music itself finish the portrait. Performed live. Revealed in front of our eyes and ears.

A MONKEES MOMENT: A Monkees moment.

A MONKEES MOMENT

A Monkees moment.

Coop follows the Mike Nesmith thread from the Stone Poneys into The Monkees’ “Last Train to Clarksville.” He saddles up the electric 12-string, and the history lesson just became the next tune.

BEFORE THE ENCORE: Everybody I Love You.

BEFORE THE ENCORE

Everybody I Love You.

Coop ties a bow of love on the night, Laurel Canyon Dreamin’ style, with Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young’s “Everybody I Love You” — then sends the room home with the encore, “Love the One You’re With.”

STILLS’ SIDE: The guitars tell the story.

STILLS’ SIDE

The guitars tell the story.

For the powerful Neil Young–Stephen Stills guitar duel in “Everybody I Love You,” Coop takes the Stills side and trades solos—each musician answering the other in his own voice, in real time. These are the conversations we love at Campus JAX.
