MEET THE ARTIST

Wes North

Southern California singer-songwriter Wes North brings acoustic folk, rock and Americana to JAX SongStage, with songs shaped by memory, belief and the search for meaning.

The connection worth hearing is between the songwriter and the host: Wes works on the questions inside a song, then helps make space for other people to bring theirs. At JAX, that spirit meets an audience close enough to hear the story as well as the refrain.

WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW THEM

The songwriter—and the space he makes for others.

01

BEYOND HIS OWN SET

He helps other writers be heard.

Wes co-hosts Blasmo Studio’s monthly Songwriter Showcase with Michaela Compton of KOCI 101.5 FM. His place in the original-music community extends to creating opportunities for fellow writers.

02

THE RECORDING

Thus Far leaves room to reflect.

His seven-track 2025 release moves through songs including “Gloria,” “Old Bones” and “Wishes (Metta).” It closes with an acoustic “Home,” offering another setting for a song heard earlier in the collection.

THE JAX CONNECTION

More than a single night.

The JAX archive documents Wes in SongStage lineups from April 2024 through June 2026. The June 16 appearance is also the source of his “Gloria” and “Ramblin’ Showman” video singles.

THE STORY

A song can be a place to begin again.

North’s official biography places spirituality and lived experience at the center of his writing, with an ear shaped by several decades of folk and rock. Thus Far gives those interests a recorded home; SongStage lets listeners encounter the person telling the story. In the JAX description of “Gloria,” the song moves from fear and isolation toward hope. “Ramblin’ Showman” follows uncertainty toward a more confident sense of self, with its introduction preserving the openness of a song still being introduced to a room. That willingness to share the process has a counterpart in Wildrootz, the creative community presented on his website: musicians, poets and playwrights are welcomed alongside songwriters, and unfinished work has a place. It is a useful way into Wes’s music—listen for what the song is trying to work through, and stay for where it lands.
