Kyle Frost

Berklee-trained vocalist and guitarist whose work spans Foreigner, Bryan Adams and Boston tribute productions. In Classic Vinyl Live, he takes on one of 1970s rock’s most unforgiving lead-vocal assignments.

Boston’s debut is full of studio craft, but the emotional test happens in the lead vocal. Kyle Frost has spent years inside exactly the kind of high-range classic-rock singing that exposes every weakness.

THE STORY

Living inside the high notes.

A great tribute singer has two problems to solve at once. The first is obvious: can you physically sing the material? The second is harder: can you make it feel like a song instead of a vocal stunt? Foreigner requires power and edge. Bryan Adams asks for grain, attack and emotional directness. Boston demands height, purity, endurance and a very specific kind of lift. Kyle has worked inside all three worlds, which is what makes him unusually suited to Classic Vinyl Live.

CAREER & COLLABORATIONS

A specialist in iconic rock voices.

Kyle’s career includes 4NR: The Foreigner Concert Experience, Summer of 69, Rock N Roll Band: The Music of Boston and earlier work with the Stoney Curtis Band. One studio credit reaches well beyond the tribute world: he sang backing vocals on Whitney Houston’s “Queen of the Night” for The Bodyguard soundtrack.

While recording in Hollywood, Kyle was called across town to sing backing vocals on Whitney Houston’s “Queen of the Night” for The Bodyguard soundtrack — a session he says still sends him royalty checks.
