MEET THE ARTIST

Jeff Lyons

Jeff Lyons is a rock vocalist featured with Urgent-LA's Foreigner tribute: a singer whose story began with piano at six, guitar at twelve, a teenage band and a pursuit of original music. At Campus JAX, his command of this famously demanding repertoire rests on a musical life far broader than one band's catalog.

Foreigner made these songs famous; Jeff Lyons brings another musician's history to them. Piano, guitar, an early band, original-music ambitions and recording-engineering studies all came before the Urgent spotlight. His aim onstage is not to erase himself inside the repertoire. The interest is what happens when an experienced rock vocalist brings his own history to songs people already know by heart.

WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW THEM

Five ways to hear Jeff Lyons differently.

01

01 · THE BEGINNING

The music started early.

Piano at six. Guitar at twelve. First band at fourteen. Jeff's life in music did not begin with a Foreigner setlist.

02

02 · THE MAKER

He knows the other side of the microphone.

Jeff pursued original music and attended USC's recording-engineering program. His story extends into the craft of making and capturing music.

03

03 · THE INFLUENCES

Listen for the range of his influences.

Lou Gramm, Steve Perry, Steve Walsh and Ann Wilson are among his published vocal reference points: singers capable of moving from power to intimacy.

04

04 · THE STAGES

A history beyond one tribute.

His booking biography records shared stages with Steve Augeri, Taylor Dayne, Mark McGrath and Jim Peterik. Those are shared-stage credits, not band memberships.

05 · THE JAX MOMENT

The performance can outlive the night.

JAX Momento No. 004-A preserves Jeff's November 8, 2025 Campus JAX appearance; the October 10, 2026 return writes a separate chapter.

THE STORY

Before Urgent, there was the musician.

Start with the instruments. Jeff Lyons' published biography places him at the piano by six, on guitar by twelve and forming a band by fourteen. Long before the lights, he was learning music from the inside. That path led to original-music ambitions and studies in USC's recording-engineering program. His vocal reference points are distinctive: Ann Wilson, Steve Perry, Steve Walsh and Lou Gramm. Different singers, all capable of carrying a song from restraint to full-throated release. They help explain the rock repertoire that attracts Jeff without defining him entirely through one predecessor. An entertainment-industry biography documents stages shared with Steve Augeri, Taylor Dayne, Mark McGrath and Jim Peterik. It also advertises Hot Blooded, a Foreigner tribute project featuring Lyons. Urgent-LA is a separate five-piece band, with Jeff featured on vocals on its official site. For Campus JAX, the story has a particularly tangible thread. Urgent featuring Jeff performed here November 8, 2025, listed as sold out by the venue, and an authentic moment from that night became collectible No. 004-A. On October 10, 2026, the group returned for another JAXblast broadcast. The repertoire belongs to Foreigner. The performance belongs to the musicians making it now.

CAREER & COLLABORATIONS

The original road. The shared stages. The JAX return.

Jeff's documented path moves from an early band and original-music pursuit into the demanding craft of classic-rock performance. His career biography contains more than one Foreigner tribute project, and it is important to keep those credits distinct.

ORIGINAL MUSIC

Before the tribute stage

Jeff pursued his own music and studied the recording process through USC's recording-engineering program.

HOT BLOODED

Another Foreigner tribute production

Neal Shelton Entertainment separately advertises Hot Blooded featuring Jeff Lyons. Its published personnel are specific to that project, not Urgent's confirmed lineup.

EDUCATION & TEACHING

The craft behind the big voice.

Jeff's early piano and guitar education matters because it came well before his professional tribute repertoire. His published attendance at USC's recording-engineering program also puts him in the process of producing and capturing sound, not just singing through a microphone. This is musical preparation, not a claim of a degree, university teaching position or formal coaching role.

AGE SIX

Piano first

A musical foundation at the keyboard, years before the rock frontman.

AGES TWELVE AND FOURTEEN

Guitar, then a band

A guitarist from twelve and a band member by fourteen: learning music with others as well as on his own.

USC

Inside the recording process

His biography says he attended USC's recording-engineering program while pursuing original music; it does not establish graduation.
